In the most intense scene of Amistad, a group of sick slaves are cold heartedly thrown overboard by their captors. This scene was filmed at Catalina Island off the coast of Los Angeles featuring 4 stuntmen and 1 stuntwoman, all without clothes and chained together to a bag of lead weights and cannon balls. Pete Romano filmed the horrific scene using the HydroFlex Deep Water Housing. A 14mm lens was used with an 85 correction filter. It was shot at 36FPS with 5293 film stock.
